Marilyn enjoyed meeting and hearing the experiences of some of our Haifa reading volunteers last week. The remedial reading project being held in one of the low socio-economic areas of Haifa is already reaping fruit. As we have mentioned before, the project functions in two separate settings-an elementary school during the school day and a community centre after school hours - but is run by the community centre's educational department. There are usually 4 children in each group. While the teacher works with one or two children, one of our enthusiastic volunteers listens to and helps the other two children.
